Our Mission
East Texas Film Society is a 501(c(3) tax exempt organization, under the public charity status 170(b(1(A(vi) formed in 2025 to fill a cultural void. With vast amounts of space between major and minor cities, an opportunity existed to call to those interested in the art of film and cinema and bring them together into one place.

Our mission is to build the community of filmmakers and film lovers in East Texas through fiscal sponsorship for independent film productions, curated screenings, and educational discussion.

The success of our mission will be measured by these objectives:

-
Unite the community of film lovers and filmmakers and create a space to make connections with those who share the same (or different) interests. Communal discussion and involvement is one of the best ways to maintain interest and promote film education in the region. This goal has been achieved and is still growing week by week.
-
Host unique film screenings in local and independent theaters throughout the entire region, with focus on supporting these venues as they are one of the only points of access to the arts in smaller towns. This goal includes making the community aware of events already taking place in or near where they live, and partnering with existing organizations that share an interest in film.
-
Provide fiscal sponsorship or grants for East Texas independent films being produced to further promote the region as a film-friendly place and provide opportunity to upcoming filmmaking voices. In addition to financial contributions we also aim to promote production and casting calls on our website and social media to deepen our connection with the rising artists in East Texas.

East Texas Film Society is an incorporated non-profit organization in the State of Texas, and is awaiting 501(c)3 tax-exempt determination.
